One hundred sixty four women (age range 18-46 years old) were
enrolled in the study. A nickel load was evaluated by measurement of nickel excretion in urine. A standardized questionnaire was used to determine factors affecting nickel load. These factors included nickel sensitization, patch testing, atopic dermatitis, smoking, consumption of food with high nickel content, and use of dietary supplements. A new method of measuring nickel concentration in urine has been developed
at the Institute and Outpatient Clinic for labor, social and
Environmental Medicine (IPASUM). This method can be used as a standard.
