This study provides data on the occurrence and extent of anatomical structures of the interforaminal mandible. These include the bilateral mental foramina, accessory foramina, the anterior loop and caudal loop of the mental canal and the mandibular incisive canal.
It is shown that there is a high anatomical variability in the interforaminal area, which cannot be detected by two-dimensional imaging. In contrast, three-dimensional imaging allows reliable identification of these structures.
