Abstract:

Translated abstract:
We examined whether amyloid plasma levels are associated with sleep duration or sleep fragmentation in on-call Psychiatrists. The extent of sleep fragmentation diminished the physiological reduction of Aβ42 plasma levels during night in the same direction as the intermediate product of the production of Aβ42 and the genetic risk factor for Alzheimer’s disease. Considering that the years of professional experience also pointed in the same direction raises the utmost important socioeconomic question whether on-call duty might be associated with an altered risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease.
