In this retrospective designed study were 648 patients included, which underwent an knee joint arthroscopy in the time between July 1990 and December1994 in the surgical clinic Dr. Michael Schreiber in Munich. All patients were recorded with regard to the expositon and disposition for the thrombosis risk. They were assigned to three risk groups (low, middle, high). In the postoperativ period 6 patients developed a deep venous thrombosis. Regarding the detailled risk for thrombosis these 6 patients were compared with the whole group. Finally the necessity of heparin and the kind of heparin (LWH/UH), especially in case of minimal invasiv surgery, like arhtroscopy, is discussed.
