Its well known, that many different kinds of human cancer cause thrombembolic complications and hematogenious metastasizing tumor cells adhere to endothelial cells. In this study, we examined the tumorcell-induced platelet-aggregation as well as platelet-adhesion on endothelial cells in vitro in controlled flow studies by cells of a small cell lung carcinoma (SCLC). There was an ADP-mediated (0,5-1µM) platelet-activation by SCLC. Additionally there had to be illucidated which receptors were responsable for the adhesion of SCLC-cells on endothelial cells under flow-conditions. We showed that ICAM-1 on endothelial cells played an important role in tumorcell-adhesion.
