Diese Dissertation untersucht, ob und in welchem Ausmaß mittels perkutaner Implantation eines MitraClips die rechtsventrikuläre (RV) Funktion und eine pulmonale Hypertonie beeinflusst werden kann. Bei 55% der 93 eingeschlossenen Patienten konnte ein RV Remodeling beobachtet werden. Insbesondere wurde die Veränderung der RV Funktion im Gegensatz zur Baseline RV Funktion als unabhängiger Prädiktor für die Gesamtmortalität identifiziert und sollte demnach zur Prognoseabschätzung in die individualisierte Nachsorge einfließen.     «

This thesis examines if and to what extent a transcatheter mitral valve repair is capable of restoring the function of the right ventricle (RV) and influencing the pulmonary artery systolic pressure. 55% of the patients benefited from a MitraClip implantation since it induced RV remodeling. In contrast to baseline RV function, the change in RV function at follow-up serves as an independent predictor for all-cause mortality. As a consequence it yields great potential for a patient-tailored surveillance strategy.     «
