This thesis evaluates the implementation of a family integrated care treatment pathway for VLWB-infants in the Kinderklinik Passau with regards to nutrition, growth, and associated quality indicators. A comparison of yearly cohorts of VLBW-infants before and after implementation was conducted. The introduction of the pathway was associated with faster establishment of enteral nutrition, shorter central venous catheter utilization, improved breastmilk provision and fewer cases of late-onset sepsis.
