To optimize the speed and economic efficiency of clinching continuous sheets or profiles, the clinching process was tested for its adaptability to a throughfeed method with tools mounted radially on tool rolls.
Detailed analysis of the process was done via three-dimensional numerical simulation and experiments. With the construction of a working prototype, the feasibility was successfully proven. Further examination of the material flow during the process lead to the development of optimization strategies.
