Electronically controlled beam steering is a key technology for many applications such as distance radar, pre crash detection and integrated antennas for wireless communication. The goal of the work at hand is the investigation of subharmonic injection locking of active antenna arrays and its applications. The electronic steering of the directional characteristic of an antenna array as well as the generation of a high total output power by combining the small output powers of several single oscillators are considered as some of its most important applications. Additionally, the preliminary stages, e.g. the synchronization of a single oscillator, are being investigated in this work. One of the possible fields of application of the presented radar system is the automotive area, where the system can be used for the acquisition of close range data in order to assist the driver or for partially automated driving.
