Description:
This dataset contains the information extracted from 100 selected studies from 28 different countries, spanning 1979-2021, on the impacts of tree insect pests and pathogens in urban settings. We extracted data on study locations, time frames, tree insect pests, tree pathogens, and tree species. Identified impacts were conceptualised into a three part framework: (1) environmental impacts, including tree mortality and damage, defoliation, and wilting; (2) social impacts, including on aesthetics,...     »
Method of data assessment:
Trees contribute greatly to urban environments and human well-being, yet relatively little is known about the extent to which a rising incidence of tree insect pests and pathogens may be affecting these contributions. To address this issue, we undertook a systematic review and synthesis of the diverse global empirical evidence on the impacts of urban tree insect pests and pathogens, using bibliographic databases. The review followed established procedures (Preferred Reporting Items for Systemati...     »
