In the course of remote sensing via spectrometric measurements sunlight-induced chlorophyll-fluorescence has been researched to determine the photosynthetic status of a plant crop. It could be proven showing the kinetic amount emphases of sunlight-induced chlorophyll-fluorescence in dimout experiments that both are outputs of the photosystem II. Sunlight-induced chlorophyll-fluorescence is subject to a primarily light dependent diurnal course, of which the level varies inter alia with the chlorophyll content and plant density. In trials, designed around the respective stressors (nitrogen deficiency, disease pressure, water stress), base level data to determine the kind of stress could be derived and additionally photosynthesis (with the exception of heat stress) could be traced, by means of the sunlight-induced chlorophyll-fluorescence – in association with other vegetation indices.
