Data set used for the publication in the journal Global Change Biology, entitled "Dynamics of initial C allocation after drought release in mature Norway spruce - Increased belowground allocation of current photoassimilates covers only half of the C used for fine-root growth".
Method of data assessment:
A whole-tree 13C labeling experiment was conducted on mature Norway spruce trees in parallel with controlled watering after five years of repeated summer drought. The fate of newly assimilated carbon to growth and CO2 efflux was tracked along branches, stems, coarse- and fine-roots, ectomycorrhizae (ECM) and root exudates to soil CO2 efflux after drought release.
