Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a dismal disease. Predictive model systems are needed urgently.
Therefore, a patient-derived organoid (PDO) biobank from surgical resections as well as endoscopic biopsies was generated. In addition a more cost-effective alternative media was established. Drug screens, as well as DNA and RNA sequencing were performed within few weeks post isolation. This rapid turnaround allows to study each patient in a clinically relevant time.
Importantly, in vitro testing of PDOs displayed a high concordance to the therapeutic response of patients.
