In der ISAR-CAUTION Studie, welche das Ausschleichen der Clopidogrel-Erhaltungstherapie nach DES-Implantation mit dem abrupten Absetzen vergleicht, war das Ausschleichen dem konventionellen, abrupten Absetzen bezüglich des kombinierten primären Endpunktes nicht überlegen. Dennoch müssen bei der Interpretation der Daten das vorzeitige Ende der Studie und die niedrigen Ereignisraten berücksichtigt werden.     «

There is little evidence on the optimal mode of clopidogrel discontinuation. Epidemiological studies observed clustering of thrombotic events after cessation of chronic clopidogrel therapy. In the current ISAR-CAUTION trial, tapered discontinuation of chronic clopidogrel therapy after drug eluting stent implantation was not superior to conventional, abrupt discontinuation in terms of the combined primary endpoint. Yet, the results must be considered in view of the early termination of the trial and low event rates.     «
