Radioiodine therapy with I131 for thyroid autonomy has been established for over 60 years. Over the last 15 years though, some characteristics have changed. This restrospective dissertation compares two groups of patients who were treated with radioactive iodine for thyroid autonomy in 1998 and 2008 and could be followed for at least two years. In both years, success rates of over 90% were reached for eradication of thyroid hyperfunction. In 2008, radioiodine therapy had become simpler and less radiation was used to treat autonomous thyroid tissue.
