Severe colchicine poisoning is an uncommon, but potentially life-threatening
emergency. Poisoning due to accidental ingestion of plant material
(Autumn crocus) occurs in Germany mostly in spring. Colchicine intoxications with
severe course, are known to develope multiple organ failure and currently there
are no specific treatments available. We evaluate the symptoms, diagnostic measures and therapy of 21 poisoning cases, wich were treated at MRI between 1998 and 2011. Furthermore we compare the results with the relevant literature. This trial suggest that specific parameter may be used to predict the severity of the poisoning.
