Für eine vermehrte Einbeziehung von Patienten in medizinische Entscheidungen (shared decision making, SDM) ist die Kenntnis der Determinanten der Partizipationsbedürfnisse der Patienten unerlässlich. Bei N=203 Patienten mit Schizophrenie oder Multipler Sklerose konnten die Partizipationsbedürfnisse größtenteils anhand des Bildungsstands und der Einstellung gegenüber der Medikation vorhergesagt werden. Bei Patienten mit Schizophrenie spielten zudem Behandlungszufriedenheit und Selbsteinschätzung der Entscheidungskompetenz eine Rolle. Implikationen für die Implementierung von SDM werden diskutiert.     «

A critical requirement for enhanced patient participation in medical decision making (shared decision making, SDM) is profound knowledge of the determinants of patients' participation needs. Participation preferences in n=203 patients with either schizophrenia or multiple sclerosis can be predicted to a considerable degree by their level of education and their concerns about medication. Additionally, treatment satisfaction and self-assessed decison making skills have an impact in patients with schizophrenia. Implications for SDM-implementation are discussed.    «
