Simulation tools for commercial vehicles help the manufacturers to improve the product development process and allow the logistic companies to find an individual setup for their fleet vehicles. The theory shows that online map data provider as Google or Nokia Here only have a rough accuracy concerning the elevation profile. In this approach two test runs are rebuilt with data from one online map provider and processed with a filter algorithm. The study answers the question if online map data can be used for calculating the fuel consumption of commercial vehicles. The results show a deviation of 1 to 5 %. Post processing is a necessary step to create realistic height profiles.     «
