The bachelor thesis deals with the storage and retrieval machine as an important intralogistic system for the storage and retrieval process. The thesis identifies failure causes as well as components of storage and retrieval machines that are particularly critical for the availability of the storage and retrieval machine, due to their failure frequency and failure severity. In addition to the determination of the failure causes, the bachelor thesis also identified methods that enable to detect those wear and fault cases, that lead to a failure. In the presence of Industry 4.0, predictive maintenance as an maintenance type is becoming increasingly important. Therefore, the bachelor thesis also investigated to what extent predictive maintenance is already widespread in storage and retrieval machines and to what extent predictive maintenance solutions from other industries can be applied to storage and retrieval machines. For this purpose, a detailed literature research was carried out and a questionnaire survey was conducted with manufacturers, general contractors and operators of storage and retrieval machines.
