The treatment of malgnant tumors with artificial rise of temperature exceeding 40 degrees centigrade perhaps with additional radiotherapy or chemotherapy is a ssuccessful method in cancer therapy. For microwave hyperthermia treatment of eye tumor we have developed a system consisting of a 2.435 GHz transmitter and a disc applicator. The disc applicator contains a circular pad antenna and a temperature sensor. The fully transistorized transmitter yields an output power of 5 W. The transmitter is microprocessor controlled. The sclera surface temperature is sensed via the thermistor and is stabilized via the transmitter output power control. Via the microprocessor control also wrong operation is detected.
