Corporate Accelerators (CAs) have been increasingly adopted across organizations over the past decade for access to early external innovation, and to build bridges between the complementary capabilities of new ventures and incumbents. In this dissertation, I use a three-essay multi-method model to investigate a) the scholarly origins of CA programs, and to develop a proposal for future research in that area, b) how CAs enact the creation of benefits for incumbents and new ventures, and c) to which extent different potential influencing factors might affect CA discontinuation.
