We could show that the recruitment of CD8+ T cells into the immune response is regulated by TCR avidity. Most low avidity antigen specific T cells are not recruited into the primary immune response and persist in a clonally ignorant state. Wir konnten zeigen, dass CD8+ T-Zellen in Abhängigkeit ihrer TCR Avidität an der Immunantwort teilnahmen. Die meisten niedrig aviden Antigen-spezifischen T-Zellen verblieben unrekruitiert in einem Zustand von klonaler Ignoranz. Sie konnten aber an sekundären Immunantworten nach Infektion mit hoch avidem Antigen teilnehmen. Die Differenzierungsentscheidungen von CD4+ T-Zellen wurden stochastisch durch TCR Avidität beeinflusst. Höhere Avidität führte zu vermehrter Expansion, erzeugte häufiger eine klonal ausgeprägte Th1 Differenzierung und war mit stärkerer Kontraktion der Immunantwort assoziiert.      «
