The Long-QT-Syndrome is a rare disorder that can lead to sudden cardiac death. The aim of this study was to identify risk factors that increase the likelihood of life-threatening arrhythmic events (LAEs) specifically in children and adolescents. In a Cox regression analysis, a QTc time ≥500 ms was identified as an independent risk factor for an LAE. In a subanalysis, a genetic diagnosis in the
KCNH2 or
SCN5A gene, as well as in the pore region of the
KCNH2 gene, was shown to be an independent risk factor for an LAE.
