Patients not only suffer various types of injuries due to accidents, but may also show changes in their immune response. In this study, the effect of trauma on CD 4 + Th17 cells, CD4+ regulatory T cells and platelets is investigated. Particular attention is paid to the surface molecule CD 44. Furthermore, the effects of severe traumatic brain injury on the above-mentioned cell types were analyzed. The prospect of this work should provide a better understanding of the post-traumatic immune response of injured patients and thus lead to the optimization of their therapy in the future.
