Abstract:
With the present study we suggest that α1-GABAAR subunits play an essential role for long-term potentiation (LTP) modulation when benzodiazepines. The usage of midazolam evidenced that α1 plays a crucial role for LTP modulation by employing transgenic mice with point mutations in GABAAR subunits. This revealed the importance of α1-GABAAR subunits in mechanisms of synaptic plasticity. We also highlighted the importance of extrasynaptic GABAAR subtypes for neuroprotection.
