The PiCCO system plays an important role in the hemodynamic monitoring of intensive care patients based on the measurement principle of pulse contour analysis and transpulmonary thermodilution. To collect the thermodilution values, three individual measurements are averaged according to the current study situation. The present study found significant differences between the first measurement and the following individual measurements, but concludes that even two averaged thermodilutions have adequate precision.
