Abstract:

For the development of a long-term CO2- to CO-electrolysis, several parameters were examined in especially built-up setups of different scale (1:10). By using perspiration of the electrolyte through the gas diffusion electrode as well as turbulence promoters, recirculation of the feed gas and control of the partial pressure at the electrode salt depositions could be avoided. Electrolysis over a couple of hundred hours with a stable selectivity of about 60 to 70 % could be achieved.
