Abstract:
Computed tomography (CT) is an in-vivo fast medical imaging modality with potential of osteoporosis screening. This thesis investigated ultra-low dose CT with lower tube current and sparse sampling technique combining statistical iterative reconstruction algorithm. BMD and trabecular microstructure were investigated. Additionally, multi-energy CT including material quantification and decomposition were studied. An algorithm was implemented to deliver bone density. A decomposition algorithm was investigated to estimate water and fat fraction in the bone to identify acute fractures.
