76 outpatients with gastrointestinal tumours were examined with regard to their survival and their immune competence under chemotherapy. 8 of 13 patients with carcinoma of the pancreas in the stages IVa and IVb responded according to the Brunner' Score to the therapy well. A progression-free therapy time of more than 3 months led to a 1,5-time longer median survival. With increasing tumour progression the pre-existing lymphocytopenia amplified, concerning next to B-lymphocytes particularly CD8+lymphocytes and NK-cells. Except for the NK-similar cells all subpopulations of the T-lymphocytes declined.
