This dissertation focuses on the development of regional gravity field refinement methods and their realization based on the combination of data from different observation techniques using series expansions in terms of spherical radial basis functions. Terrestrial, airborne, and shipborne measurements are combined with satellite altimetry and satellite gravimetry data to derive high-resolution and high-precision (quasi-) geoid models, which are the key for the realization of the International Height Reference System.
