An approximate model for determining the frequency-dependent mobility of rectangular solid construction plates
Abstract:
In
Während Ansatz I eine maximale Vereinfachung umsetzt,
Noise is a nationwide environmental problem (Weinandy & Myck, 2013) and is one of the most strongly
perceived disturbances in society (Thißen & Niemann, 2016). 45%of the study participants of Niemann
et al. (2014) are bothered by noise, while 30% of those affected consider neighbourhood noise to be
the main cause. Since neighbourhood noise in most cases diffuses through material boundaries, the
transmission of structure-borne sound plays a decisive role. In addition to airborne and impact sound
transmission, building services equipment is a frequent source of noise. In particular, installation noises
from sanitary systems have a high potential for disturbance. (Weber et al., 2019)
The computational prediction of sound pressure levels of installation noise is considered to be
complex and time-consuming. For this, the current draft of standard E DIN EN 12354-5:2022-02 discusses
planning methods. Against this thematic background, Fraunhofer IBP is developing methods
for approximate calculation of sound pressure levels due to installations in adjacent rooms. In the calculation
process the mobility of the receiver structure is included. In the context of installations, the
receivers are for example floor plates and walls. Since the mobility has to be calculated numerically, an
approximated variant of the mobility is used in the innovative forecast model. The draft of the standard
suggests a constant mean value as a simplification for plate-like building components in solid construction.
However, this mean value overestimates the actual value of the plate mobility at low frequencies
and at positions close to the support. This circumstance forms the knowledge gap of the present study
and formulates the research question: “Does a hybrid frequency- and location-dependent mobility
model represent a suitable extension for the static model of E DIN EN 12354-5:2022-02 Annex F?”
In connection with this research question, the hypothesis arises that the gradient of the platemobility
below the first natural frequency respectively in the low-frequency spectrum can be determined without
detailed modelling for each position and support condition.
As a central method, parameter studies within the framework of explorative research generate
the input data for simulations. In addition to a large number of correlations regarding mobility and the
underlying parameters, these studies result in two approximate mobility models with different priorities.
While approach I implements a maximum simplification, Approach II pursues the goal of the highest
possible forecast quality. By means of exemplary applications accompanied by measurement results,
the models are finally validated.
Both approaches and the resulting hybrid model as the concept of implementation represent the
mobility depending on the plate parameters and the support situation better than the constant simplification
from E DIN EN 12354-5:2022-02. The calculations according to approach II predict the mobility
with higher accuracy than according to approach I. With reference to the limitations of the thesis the
research question can be answered positively. The hypothesis cannot be confirmed for the time being,
since a stringent consideration of the support situation in the hybrid model is not yet possible.
