The condition assessment of existing bridges requires an individual assessment concept for each damage scenario. Damage processes which lead to a brittle failure, such as prestressing steel failure due to SCC, are to be considered particularly critical. In this work, current regulations for the assessment of the risk of stress corrosion cracking in the longitudinal direction are analysed and an optimization is proposed. A practical evaluation concept, based on a stochastic approach, for the risk of prestressing steel failure due to SCC in the transverse direction is also developed.
