The thesis investigates the shear behaviour of prestressed concrete girders with a special regard to stirrup types that do not comply with current standards. For the experimental investigations carried out, an innovative test technique was developed and applied that enables a detached consideration of the girder sections that are decisive for the failure. Based on the experiments and theoretical considerations, a mechanically based shear model for prestressed concrete girders of existing bridges was developed in addition to a simplified approach.
