Abstract:
Although cathether ablation (CA) is widely performed for atrial fibrillation (AF), reported success rates show a wide variation. The research conducted in this publication-based doctroral thesis aimed to determine whether pre-procedural as well as intra-procedural parameters can predict outcome and success rate of CA for AF. This project focused on two highly selected subgroup of AF patients: namely pure paroxysmal AF and younger otherwise healthy patients with lone AF.

Obwohl die Katheterablation (KA) bei Vorhofflimmern (VHF) weit verbreitet ist, weisen die berichteten Erfolgsraten große Unterschiede auf. Die in dieser publikationsbasierten Doktorarbeit durchgeführten Untersuchungen zielten darauf ab, festzustellen, ob prä- und intraprozedurale Parameter die Erfolgsrate von KA für VHF vorhersagen können. Dieses Projekt fokussiert sich auf zwei Untergruppen von VHF-Patienten: paroxysmales VHF und jüngere gesunde Patienten mit "lone atrial fibrillation".
