In this study, porcine hearts were ablated in an ex vivo model with two catheters in order to investigate the influence of ablation time, contact force, power and ablation angle on the lesion size und the lesion geometry. In summary, the ablation time and the power had a greater impact on the lesion size created with the Smarttouch Surround Flow (STSF) (Biosense Webster, Diamond Bar, CA, USA) while the contact force and the ablation angle had an greater effect on the lesion size caused by the TactiCath Quartz (TCQ) (St. Jude Medical, St. Paul, MN, USA). Overall, the STSF achieved larger lesions than the TCQ.
