Medical examinations that acquire the application of contrast media can cause a so-called contrast-induced acute kidney injury. Currently the diagnosis is made by the increase of creatinine levels in the blood that reflects the kidney function with a temporal delay and is influenced by several factors. The new biomarker CAF (C-terminales Agrinfragment) might allow a reliable early detection and thus improve the therapeutic options. In this study the correlation among CAF and the renal metabolism was confirmed but a diagnostic superiority of CAF regarding creatinine was not observed.     «
