Colorectal cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers. The canonical Wnt signaling pathway plays a key role in carcinogenesis, and deregulation of the canonical Wnt signaling pathway is tightly associated with tumor development in the gut. In this study, the specific contribution of the putative tumor suppressor RNF43 to tumorbiological aspects, as well as its role as a negative regulator of the Wnt signaling pathway were characterized. This novel inhibitory function may pave the way for the development of new therapeutic approaches.
