The aim of this work is to present different changes of use of street spaces and to take a closer look at parklets and city terraces in particular. This includes a presentation of the entire realization process of a parklet in a theoretical and practical way, as well as an evaluation and analysis of the own implemented project. A meaningful overview of different forms and variations will be given and insights from the realization of an experiment in the street space will be shared. A new division of the traffic area will be tried out and a combination of city terrace and parklet will be realized at Breisässer Platz in Munich. In the further course the use and acceptance of the residents will be examined and discussed with different methods. A usage analysis will be conducted, an own survey and the general feedback of the survey of the mobility department will be evaluated and the feedback of the participants of the "Pilot Project Parklets 2021" will be interpreted. The results obtained show intensive use with regular peaks that fluctuate due to weather conditions and depending on the day of the week. In the further course, a clearly predominant acceptance for parklets in the city can be seen in the surveys; especially at Breisässer Platz, the designed construction was particularly well received. Major differences to other parklets in the city are briefly elaborated. Summing up, all parklet builders consider the pilot project successful, except for a few possible improvements, and the city of Munich is also enthusiastic. Nevertheless, parklets will be introduced on the streets rather slowly in the next few years. The parking problem in large cities is still too acute, with an insufficient supply of equivalent mobility alternatives. The idea has enormous potential to increase the quality of stay in public places, but for sustainable urban development, the inner-city traffic turnaround must progress much further than it has so far. In addition to more reliable and less expensive public transportation, as well as sufficient sharing offers at affordable prices, private passenger vehicles must be pushed out of the cityscape in the long term using push and pull methods.
