The use of herbal medicine for treating illnesses or for enhancing the wellbeing is widespread in Germany and worldwide, and prevalence rates show a steady increase. Despite its popularity little is known about the usage pattern, influencing factors and the reasons why people decide in general, initially or repeatedly for this kind of treatment. Within this thesis, these gaps will be closed and a comprehensive analysis of the use of herbal medicine for the general German population will be provided. To this end, both qualitative and quantitative research methods were employed.
