Plants rely on cell surface receptor kinases such as
AtLORE (LIPOOLIGOSACCHARIDE-SPECIFIC REDUCED ELICITATION) to sense microbial structures such as the bacterial metabolite 3-hydroxydecanoic acid to ward off pathogenic bacteria. This work investigated receptor complex formation and activation of
AtLORE and the results suggest ligand-independent homodimerization mediated by the ectodomain of
AtLORE, essential also for receptor activation. Additionally, data of
AtLORE overexpression lines indicate an important role in the regulation of the stomatal aperture as part of the pre-invasive immune response.
