The aim of this thesis was to evaluate the monoacylglycerol lipase (MGLL) in adipocytes as a potential drug target for the treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes (T2D). For this purpose, a fat tissue specific knockout mouse model with diet induced obesity was characterized. The diet had significant impact on body composition, metabolism, and inflammation. The knockout only resulted in mild effects in severely obese male mice. These results exclude adipocyte MGLL as a drug target in obesity or T2D.
