Manufacturing companies are increasingly facing an uncertain and continuously changing environment. This environment is characterized by a great divergence between the effort for changes that is actually required by the companies themselves and the tolerated effort level imposed by market conditions.
Transformability has widely been identified as a feasible approach to managing the above mentioned challenging conditions. Therefore, transformability constitutes the core of this Master Thesis.
A thorough analysis of various interpretations of changeability in the literature and the development of a factory system definition form the basis for the model development.
The overall model consists of two separate models, while the first one analyzes the impact of change drivers on the factory system and the second one offers a framework for compiling change measures in a systematic manner.
Accordingly, this Master Thesis provides a model approach for factory planning under utilization of changeability.
