Abstract:
For a comprehensive assessment of self-sustained fish populations affected by hydropower, existing solutions, methods, tools and devices (SMTDs) are identified and described. The topics addressed are: upstream and downstream migration, turbines, hydromorphology, hydropeaking, e-flows, fish characterisation and habitat. For each topic, the needs of research are highlighted. Additionally, the research conducted at 13 Test Cases (hydropower plants) of FIThydro across Europe is presented.
