The work aims to expand the technology portfolio for utilization of micro and macroalgal carbohydrates. For this, the so-called HT-PMP analytical method was transferred, evaluated, and extended for identification of algal mono- and oligosaccharides. This allowed a targeted enzymatic saccharification of microalgal biomass. Besides, the conversion of carrageenan by sulfatases was identified as possible approach for biomass valorization. Lacking a sulfatase functional-based HT screening, a microplate assay based on an enzyme cascade was developed, optimized and validated.
