After closing the airport Berlin Tegel, an inner-city area of 495 ha, only 15 minutes away from the city center, will be available for the city of Berlin for conversion. Initial investigations about how this area could be used in the future have already been made. The current master plan focuses on research and industrial use at the former airport site Tegel.
In this thesis the energy demand and possible locally produced electricity is calculated for different usage scenarios at the site of Berlin Tegel using annual load profiles for both, consumption and production. Several development options with different reference standards are examined and the power generation, through photovoltaics and wind, is considered. The calculations of the energy demand and power generation of the entire neighborhood are performed using the software MATLAB and allow to be applied to different neighborhoods as well.
