Title:
Usability of Multimodal Human-Machine-Interaction while Driving
Abstract:
In this study driver behavior while using a multimodal system was investigated with a special interest on driving performance and the efficiency of human-machine-interaction (HMI). For the field experiment subjects operated telephone and navigation system using a real speech driven system under different traffic conditions. The analysis of interaction and driving data shows that users create compensative behavior to establish efficient and safe operation of a secondary task while driving.
