This work proposes concepts for the communication between embedded devices in a distributed system with a special focus on the interaction between these devices and a user.
Based on web technologies a universal graphical user interface is composed out of the available functions in the network. By relying on a service-oriented management, these functionalities can be found and used across the entire infrastructure. Hence, a dynamic extension of the overall system is enabled. Due to the multi-user and open access based approach, the system has to be enhanced by security mechanisms to prevent it from malicious threats. The standard compliant realization of the system fosters the application to various scenarios. The thesis is closed by a quantitative performance evaluation as well as a qualitative analysis regarding the requirements defined beforehand.
