In 2007, a nationwide German opinion survey in written form was carried out with 600 patients 12-18 months after radical prostatectomy. They were asked about their ex-periences during clinical treatment, competence mediation, communication, service, coordination of care and overall satisfaction. The patients' age and insurance status had no significant influence on the results. The majority was highly satisfied with the competence (91%) and the options of participation during treatment (69%). 79% would recommend their hospital to friends. Despite the recent changes in the com-mon health care sector, 67% thought that the medical staff had enough time for explanation and questions. Items being criticized most often were aspects of service, the waiting time, and the information given to the patients when released into ambulant treatment. In summary, the most important factor for patient satisfaction is the staff-patient relationship.
