Die inhärente Thrombogenität synthetischer Gefäßprothesen limitiert erheblich den Anwendungsbereich und die Lebensdauer dieser Implantate. Grund dafür ist die fehlende natürliche Endothelauskleidung, die die Innenwand der Blutgefäße im Körper mit einer optimalen antithrombotischen Schicht versieht. Ziel des Projektes ist die Entwicklung neuartiger hybrider Gefäßimplantate, bestehend aus einer synthetischen Trägerstruktur und einer zellulären luminalen Auskleidung für den Einsatz in der Gefäßchirurgie. Zur Herstellung der hybriden Implantate wurde eine neue, auf der Anwendung von Magnetfeldern basierende Technologie entwickelt, die eine schnelle, homogene Besiedlung des tubulären Zellträgers ermöglicht.
