Unter den pädiatrischen Eingriffen werden die meisten Erythrozytenkonzentrate (EKs) in der Kinderherzchirurgie verabreicht. Untersucht wurden 1356 Eingriffe an Kindern <20Kg. Folgende Faktoren wurden als Prädiktoren für EKs nachgewiesen: Gewicht, Neugeborenenstatus, Operationsdauer, Komplexität des Eingriffs. Darüber hinaus konnte gezeigt werden, dass die EK-Transfusionen signifikant die Aufenthaltsdauer auf der Intensivstation als Surrogatparameter für postoperative Komplikationen verlängern.

The most red blood cells transfusions (RBCs) in pediatric operations are applied in congenital heart surgeries. 1356 operations on children <20 kg were analyzed. Following factors were shown as predictors for RBC: weight, infant status, operation time and complexity score. Furthermore it could be shown that RBCs prolong the length of ICU stay as a surrogate parameter for postoperative complications.
